Drupal is a very powerful platform for developing dynamic websites. A lot can be done with it and so it can be a bit overwhelming to see all that's possible before having a set plan of what one actually wants and needs. That said, the first thing for me to do in redeveloping the Pickett Hill Guide Service website is to determine exactly what it is the site needs to deliver. Knowing that, going forward, I can then look into which modules I should use.

What's going to be the purpose of the Pickett Hill website? First and foremost, it is the primary source of information for services offered by the company. Having such details laid out and easily accessible to visitors will be important. The second purpose will be to serve as an educational resource in the world of hunting, fishing, hiking and general interests in conservation. Those visiting the website shouldn't have to sign up for a service in order to get valuable use out of it. This will be key in attracting more site visitors, which in turn will increase the chances of more people being interested in what the company has to offer.

Seasonal: Shows when certain game is in season in the state of Vermont.

Bookings: Shows the availability of Pickett Hill for services.

This should address all of the areas we wish to cover. The next step will be to determine which modules should be used, how they should be configured, and how everything should be oriented on the site. That, I intend, will be the focus of the next part in this series.
